As a requirement to graduate from Faculty of Education, senior students have to submit Capstone projects. This project provides students with various learning experiences – obtained through the School Experience Program, the Community Service Program (CSP – KKN in Indonesian)- and the opportunity to integrate the knowledge and skills they have acquired through the coursework. There are three alternative ways by which students can accomplish the project: (1) produce a full thesis report based on an empirical research study;
(2) write a scholarly paper and;
(3) produce a teaching and learning materials (audio visual, video, teaching aids, etc.).

At the very young age, Deshinta begin her career as a mathematics teachers at International Schools both in Jakarta and Surakarta during her study as master degree students. Right after graduated, Deshinta started her career as a mathematics lecturer at Sampoerna University handling any courses related to mathematics for students of Faculty of Education, Faculty of Business, and Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
Deshinta is interested in field of history of mathematics, geometry with Van Hiele theories, and technology. Her writing about development of module for teaching geometry based on Van Hiele theories has presented on International Conferences.
Deshinta is actively involved in the community services about mathematics education issues. She is invited to give training of teaching geometry for teachers in Jakarta. Other than that Deshinta has delivered and designed a training about the use of technology in teaching mathematics in collaboration with Microsoft Indonesia. Now, Deshinta is a member of Indonesian Mathematical Society (IndoMS)
Ms. Vera has extensive experience in teaching since she started her career in higher education in 1999. She was one of the three women who became faculty members and worked on the structuring of the Sampoerna School of Education (SSE), during its initial phase, back in 2009. Later, SSE became the Faculty of Education under Sampoerna University and she chaired the English Language Teaching Department from 2009 to 2013.
Her interest is in Literature and Cultural Studies, which is the topic for her dissertation. She has spoken and presented in many conferences, national and international forum, all related to the two topics she is very fond of.
Maryam Mursadi or Mima, started her career as a lecturer in 2010. Prior to that, she was facilitator and program development officer in Sampoerna Foundation Teacher Institute (SFTI).
Mima holds a Master’s degree in Inclusive and Special Needs Education. In addition, she also studied Montessori education. She involved in several research projects with WWF-Indonesia and KEHATI Foundation in area of Education for Sustainable Development. She is also among research developer team for national survey of early grades reading assessment (EGRA) of students in Indonesia (2012 and 2013). Aside of teaching, she is the coordinator for School Experience Program for FoE-SU
Hatim obtained his MA in religious studies from Center for Religious and Cross Cultural Studies (CRCS) Gadjah Mada University. His areas of interest include multiculturalism, theological and civic pluralism, world religions, pesantren studies, extremism, terrorism and radicalism, and character education. He has published several research paper in several journals: journal of al-Jami’ah, Journal Perta, Journal Religio, Journal of Al-Albab, Journal of Welfare, Journal of al-Turast, journal of At-Tarbawi, and journal of al-Muwazah. He also published numerous essays in many newspapers: such as Media Indonesia, Suara Pembaruan, Indopos, Sinar Harapan, Solopos, The Jakarta Post, Duta Masyarakat, Suara Merdeka, etc. His skripsi (undergraduate thesis) is nominated as the best skripsi at “Skripsi, Thesis and Dissertation award” held by Ministry of Religious Affairs, 2006. He obtained many research grants, community service grant, and non-conventional learning grant from various institutions: Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Open Learning Centre (SEAMO SEAMOLEC), Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, and Hivos Foundation. He has involved in facilitating several workshops and trainings as well as has developed workshop modules on his areas of interest for various institutions. He is also a member of caretaker of Asosiasi Dosen Agama Islam Indonesia (ADPISI), an association of lecturer of the religion of Islam: and Rabithah Ma’ahid Islamiyah (the association of Pondok Pesantren) under Pengurus Besar Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU). Hatim believes that young generation should critically respond the socio-cultural-religious issues and develop a democratic attitude toward diversity
Dhitta Puti has a Master in Mathematics Education from The Graduate School of Education, University of Bristol, UK. She started working in the Faculty of Education (FoE), Sampoerna University (SU) as a part time lecturer in 2011. At the time, she was also the Program Director of Ikatan Guru Indonesia (IGI), a national teacher’s organization in Indonesia with more than 10,000 members from all over Indonesia. There she was responsible for designing training and workshops for in-service teachers and coordinating with the IGI’s branches in various provinces in Indonesia.
Dhitta Puti has a wide range of interest which Teaching & Training, Educational Equality and Equity, Comprehensive Schooling, Educational Policy, Educational Reform, Mathematics Education, and Community Development. She also have proceed a number of writings on the field of Education, for example a paper about the National Examination (published by UNICEF Indonesia, 2010), a book “Mendidik Pemenang Bukan Pecundang” which consists of personal reflections on education (co-author with J. Sumardianta, 2016), and report on educational accountability for UNESCO (co-author with Nisa Felicia, 2017). Many of her articles, mostly on issues of Indonesia’s educational policies, have also been published on kompas.com and other medias including in printed books, bulletins, and online media.
Dhitta Puti has also experienced in working with various parties such as Yayasan Cahaya Guru, Bobo Magazine, Sekolah Sobat Bumi - Pertamina Foundation, REDD+ to design and facilitate many pre-service and in-service teachers trainings and workshops on various topics including mathematics and science education, teaching strategies, education for sustainable development, diversity in education, using literature in teaching mathematics and science and much more. Additionally, she also worked with an independent team developed by the Ministry of Education (MoE) to give recommendations for the national mathematics curriculum.
In terms of teaching, she more that 15 years experience in teaching in various institutions, such as becoming a physics teacher at an Islamic Middle School in Bandung, becoming a mathematics and science assistant in elementary schools in Bristol, becoming a youth worker in a youth center, and tutoring mathematics in in non-formal education settings including for underprivileged children both in Bandung and Jakarta.
In 2014, Dhitta Puti decided to join SU as a full time lecturer. One of the things she enjoys most at SU is having the opportunity to work together with pre-service teachers to prepare them to become high quality educators that might inspire the nation.
Desyarti got bachelor degree majoring Mathematics Education from Universitas Negeri Jakarta in 2007. She was continue her study in Applied Mathematics Study Program, Graduate School of Institut Pertanian Bogor and graduated at the end of 2009. Desyarti’s field of interests are Mathematics Education and Applied Mathematics. Her research includes applying mathematical models to solve traffic problems, the use of technology in the teaching and learning of Mathematics, and active learning in Mathematics. She got research grant from SEAMOLEC in 2012 and the paper has been presented in Konferensi Nasional Matematika XVI. She believe that Mathematics is a thought process, not just a body of knowledge. Learning Mathematics can be meaningful when the learning process allow students to actively explore and understand the mathematics on their own. The learning activity shall integrate the Mathematics into real life application. She aims to teach students about the application of mathematics in the real world to inspire her students and future generations mathematics learners in Indonesia.
Susilowaty is a dedicated English lecturer at Faculty of Education, Sampoerna University. She has passion in English teaching, children's literature, and Indonesian culture. She has been involved as a presenter in various international festivals in some states in U.S., an English examiner for Cambridge and reviewer of a few books.
She has been conducting research on English language teaching and school experience program (SEP) and presenting papers to international conferences. She also has written course modules and edited books on classroom action research and SEP.
Her key strengths include curriculum design, material development, English language methodology, assessment, classroom action research (CAR), and school experience program.
Nisa earned her Doctoral degree in education policy and leadership. Her interests focus on school improvement and educational opportunities. She took part in research project that explored the strategies applied by odds-beating schools in New York State, which served predominantly underprivileged children yet they managed to perform relatively higher than other similar schools in standardized tests. Her dissertation, on the other hand, focused on educational opportunities for children in Eastern Indonesia, identifying school and out-of-school factors that could explain cognitive performance disparities among children in that region. Funded by UNESCO-IIEP, she also conducted case study research on accountability in education sector in Indonesia.
Nisa joined Putera Sampoerna Foundation in 2008, after she graduated from her Master’s Degree and after having experience in teaching in elementary school classrooms for over 3 years. She started her career with PSF as an in-service teacher professional development facilitators, and in 2009 she officially became the lecturer of Sampoerna School of Education.

Bachelor of Education in English Language Teaching program is designed to address Indonesia’s need for high quality English teachers with the competencies to teach using 21st Century approaches. This program offers students opportunities to explore contemporary theories and practices underpinning English Language curriculum and instruction and to develop skills in teaching English for different grade-levels of primary and secondary schools. Prospective teachers will have the capacity to utilize technology as a platform in English Language Teaching to engage learners and accommodate different needs.
Bachelor of Education in English Language Teaching program is committed to create new generation of teachers who pursue their careers in wide array of opportunities in the field of English Language Teaching.
They will be able to teach English as a second language at different grade-levels of primary and secondary schools and at different contexts including in formal and non-formal education settings such as in tutoring programs and youth centers. With the ability to use English as the medium of instruction and global perspective of learning, they have significant strengths to teach in international-oriented schools with students from various backgrounds.
The capacity in conducting educational research and developing educational programs will allow the graduates to take part in education development projects and pursue their careers in national and international developmental agencies or non-government organizations.
The Mathematics Education (ME) study program provides undergraduates to become high quality 21st century mathematics teachers who are able to use English as the medium of instruction and to integrate technology to enhance mathematics teaching and learning. This program also equips students with profound mathematical knowledge and skills to enable them to teach mathematics at all levels of the basic and secondary education system. Students have the opportunity to develop their understanding on learners and learning necessary for designing and implementing meaningful mathematics teaching and learning. They are exposed to diverse mathematics curriculums and teaching experiences in several schools in order to be enriched and critical, and get ready in various real class situations.
Students will be trained as reflective practitioners to become lifelong learners. The program is also designed to facilitates aspiring teachers in excelling their leadership to become visionary teacher leaders in schools and society. They are provided by the learning environment that promotes not only integrity, creativity, and critical thinking skills, but also collaborative and entrepreneurship skills necessary for participating in a global community.
